Honest stories from people who lived with gut problems for years

Real stories

No quick fixes here, just honest accounts of doubt, searching, adapting and slowly learning to trust your own body again.

Living with gut problems takes far more from you than the physical symptoms alone. It shapes how you plan your day, how much energy you have and how much you can trust your own body. Most people learn to get by, until they reach a point where getting by is no longer enough.

On this page you will read personal stories from people who spent years living with gut problems. Maybe you will recognise yourself in them. Maybe not completely, not yet. But these are people who once stood exactly where you are now.

Jeroen helped me years ago, back when I was right at the start of my health journey. The hospital had diagnosed me with Crohn's disease. They did not have the knowledge to actually fix it, so I was meant to be on medication for the rest of my life, drugs that come with all sorts of side effects and, over time, only leave your body sicker and weaker.

Naturally I was not willing to settle for that, and I kept looking for what I could do myself. Eventually I found Jeroen, and that is where my health genuinely started to turn around. Within a few weeks, around 90% of my symptoms had all but disappeared.

Now, four or five years on, I am fitter, stronger and healthier than ever, and I look back on meeting Jeroen with a lot of emotion. It really does open up a whole new world. For anyone willing to truly open up and put the work into this way of living, you can make progress you would never think possible right now.

You start to see and feel just how much food, stress and other lifestyle choices affect your health. The body is always working to heal itself and get back to health. Once you learn to support that process instead of fighting it, your symptoms melt away like snow in the sun.

First Aid for Your Gut is not like going to a doctor; they look at your problem in a completely different way.

It starts with an intake conversation where they genuinely take their time and really listen and dig deeper. After that, there was a choice of different tests, each with its own follow-up. They explain clearly what they advise and what it will cost.

After many, many years, it has finally given me insight into what is actually going on. Now I can work towards a real solution and recovery in a focused way.

I would recommend sitting down with them and letting them help you find out what is really happening. Measuring is knowing, and knowing is where the solution starts.

I had wonderful guidance from Jeroen le Duc. At a time when I was in the middle of a severe flare-up and had just come through gut surgery, he helped me enormously.

Jeroen taught me a great deal and really inspired me when it comes to food and health.

I got in touch with Jeroen a few years ago because I was supposedly stuck with Crohn's for life. That never sat right with me. Conventional medicine offered me a bleak, years-long road full of heavy immunosuppressants that, much like antacids, mask the symptoms without ever solving the problem.

Then I found Jeroen. He brought clarity about what Crohn's actually is, and that it really can be beaten. He was living proof of it. Things had to change, and part of the answer lay in different food: no gluten, no lactose, and a thorough blood test to find out what I had too much or too little of, then tackling it step by step.

I trusted the process completely and watched my sky-high inflammation markers drop back to normal. The hospital still put it down to the disease's natural ups and downs, but I knew better. A few years on, Crohn's has left me, and in Jeroen I have a brilliant sounding board who supports and advises me whenever I ask, and even when I do not.

I tell everyone with gut-related problems the same thing: sticking on plasters is not always the answer. Go and find out. Jeroen, you are a class act, and I am glad you are here.
