We share knowledge and experience about gut health. That information can be valuable, but it never replaces the judgement of your own doctor or specialist.
First Aid for Your Gut is a professional organisation within complementary healthcare. Our team of therapists and nutrition specialists guides clients based on their personal situation, medical history, symptoms and laboratory tests. From that complete picture we draw up a treatment plan, provide guidance and adjust it where needed.
Alongside this personal guidance, we share knowledge and insights through our website, social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube), the Gut Scan and the book "First Aid for Your Gut". The disclaimer you are reading now applies to all of these channels.
All the information we publish on our website, on social media and through the Gut Scan is informative in nature. Through these channels we share knowledge and insights about gut health, food and lifestyle. We do this from our years of experience and on the basis of scientific research.
This content is something quite different from the personal guidance we provide. With our clients we know the medical background, the symptoms and the test results. With you as a reader or viewer, we do not have that insight. We do not know what your health situation is, what symptoms you have, which medicines you take or which diagnoses have been made.
You are responsible for your own body and health. If, based on our content, the book or the outcome of the Gut Scan, you decide to try something or change your food or lifestyle, then that is your choice and your responsibility.
It is up to you to judge whether a particular step suits your situation. If you are in doubt, if you take medication or if you are under treatment, we advise you to consult a medical specialist before you make any changes.
The free Gut Scan on our website asks 22 targeted questions about your food, lifestyle, stress levels and symptoms. Based on your answers you receive a personal profile as a PDF. This profile gives you in-depth insight into how your symptoms arise, why they can persist, how certain factors can strengthen or worsen one another, and which first steps you can take to ease your symptoms.
These insights are based on the patterns we recognise in our practice with hundreds of clients. However detailed the profile is, we have no insight into your personal health situation, symptoms, medication use or medical history. The profile is therefore informative and not a diagnosis. What you do with these insights is your responsibility. Judge for yourself whether a step suits your situation, and if you are in doubt, take medication or are in ongoing treatment, always consult a medical specialist.
We offer the option to request laboratory tests, such as a stool test, food intolerance test or blood test. These tests are carried out by certified external laboratories. Within our guidance programmes we use the results as part of the treatment plan. Without that personal context, results are informative and can be discussed with your treating doctor or specialist.
On our website and social media we share experiences from clients. These results are personal and individual. They show what specific people have achieved within their guidance programme and are no guarantee that you will achieve the same results. The nature of your symptoms, your general health, medication use, lifestyle and how closely you follow advice all play a part in that.
Our content may mention supplements and specific foods. This information is informative and based on the available scientific literature and practical experience.
Supplements are not medicines. Always use supplements in consultation with a professional, especially if you take medication, are pregnant, are breastfeeding or have a chronic condition. The same goes for foods: what works well for one person may be less suitable for another. Keep your own situation and any allergies or intolerances in mind.
