What personal experience sparked your passion for this work?

During my career in healthcare, in which I worked almost 12 years in hospital as an (oncology) nurse and was active in care even longer, something started to nag at me at a certain point.

Although I did my work with great love, it felt increasingly unsatisfying. I had the feeling we were mostly applying plasters, while the real underlying factors stayed beneath the surface.

I noticed I was swimming against the current and that it was costing me more and more energy. It felt as if I was not quite in the right place and as if more should be possible.

That realisation made me decide to take a different direction. A path where I could focus on a more holistic and sustainable approach to complaints. So I chose to change course, to follow training and courses in orthomolecular (gut) therapy and to start my own practice.

The combination of my work as an orthomolecular children's nutrition coach and gut therapist, my medical background and my own experience as a mother led me to delve into the underlying factors behind complaints. Especially in children with eczema and gut complaints. From there my passion grew to guide families towards more balance from within.

What motivates you every day in your work with clients?

What motivates me every day is that I know from my own experience how powerless it can feel.

My son had a lot of eczema as a baby. The itching, the discomfort and the constant search for what could help him... as a mother I found that incredibly hard to watch. At the same time I often felt unheard and was sent home with creams, while that did not feel right to me. I just did not yet know then what I know now about nutrition, gut health and their influence on the skin and overall health.

I also know what it is like to have had eczema myself. That intense itching and the feeling of being uncomfortable in your own skin is something I always bring into my guidance.

I see it as my mission to guide both children and adults towards more calm, confidence and better health. Everyone deserves to feel good in their own body. Not only by sharing knowledge, but by looking together at what someone needs and how complaints, such as eczema and gut issues, can be addressed sustainably from the ground up.

With a specialisation in babies and children, I also guide adults struggling with similar complaints. When someone sleeps better again, has less itching and feels comfortable in their own body again, and calm returns to the whole family as a result, that is what I do it for.

With a creative and solution-focused mind, I like to think in possibilities. I look beyond the standard approach and translate insights into practical steps that fit a family's daily life. Picky eating in children is also a topic I am happy to guide parents through. With practical tips and small changes I help make eating fun again.

What do you do outside work to fully recharge?

Outside work I recharge by dancing, playing the handpan and being in nature. I also enjoy meeting up with friends, cooking and fully relaxing in the sauna.

Those moments help me stay balanced, so that I can also be there for my clients with full attention and energy.
